Dizziness is the feeling of being lightheaded, woozy, or unbalanced. It affects the sensory organs, specifically the eyes and ears, so it can sometimes cause fainting. Dizziness isn’t a disease, but rather a symptom of various disorders. Common causes of dizziness include a migraine, medications, and alcohol. It can also be caused by a problem in the inner ear, where balance is regulated.
Vestibular physiotherapy can be a very good option for treating symptoms of dizziness and vertigo, especially if these symptoms are triggered or made worse by movement. Physical therapists are specially trained to do specific head movements that can alleviate dizziness and other vestibular (inner ear) problems.
Headache is defined as pain arising from the head or upper neck of the body. The pain originates from the tissues and structures that surround the skull or the brain because the brain itself has no nerves that give rise to the sensation of pain (pain fibers).
Physiotherapy treatment techniques such as manipulation (to increase movement and relieve pain and to stretch the muscles of the back of the neck) massage, and postural correction and rehabilitation exercises can help manage some common types of headaches.
